Saudi Pro League side Al-Riyadh  have officially completed the signing of Egyptian international Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet from Al Ahly SC after reaching a final agreement with all parties during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Al-Riyadh president Bandar bin Fahd Al-Muqail confirmed that the club has finalised the deal for the experienced winger, who is set to begin a new chapter in Saudi Arabia following his short return spell with the Egyptian giants.

“We have finalised the agreement on all the details of the contract with Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and the player is scheduled to get a week’s leave after the end of his participation with the Egyptian national team in the World Cup,” Al-Muqail told Kora Plus.

The Al-Riyadh president added that the 31-year-old will travel to the club’s pre-season camp in Austria after his holiday to undergo medical examinations before officially joining training ahead of the new campaign.

“After the rest period ends, Trezeguet will head to the team’s camp in Austria to undergo a medical examination, and after passing the examinations, he will immediately join the training in preparation for the new season,” he added.

Trezeguet’s departure from Al Ahly comes just one year after he returned to the Cairo giants from Qatari side Al-Rayyan SC. The Egyptian winger reportedly decided to seek a new challenge after Al Ahly’s management requested that he reduce his salary as part of efforts to maintain the club’s wage structure.

The former Aston Villa FC player played an important role during his second spell at Al Ahly, featuring in 35 matches across domestic and continental competitions.

During that period, Trezeguet scored 18 goals and provided one assist, underlining his continued attacking influence despite spending only one season with the Red Devils after his return.

The move to Al-Riyadh represents another opportunity for Trezeguet to continue his career in the Saudi Pro League, where he will reunite with a number of high-profile players competing in one of Asia’s fastest-growing football leagues.
