Sofiane Boufal: Morocco playmaker linked with Raja Casablanca move

Sofiane Boufal, the Morocco international currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Botola Pro Inwi side Raja Casablanca as he weighs up his next step after leaving Le Havre. The 32-year-old attacking midfielder, born in Paris and holding both Moroccan and French nationality, is available on a free and is understood to be open to a return to Moroccan domestic football.

Boufal became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after a short spell at Le Havre, which he joined in January from Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise. His current market valuation stands at around €1.8 million, a figure that could make a deal attractive for Raja, who would not have to pay a transfer fee.

The playmaker enjoyed a productive period in Belgium, helping Union Saint-Gilloise to the 2024-25 league title and lifting the Belgian Cup in 2026 before his mid-season switch back to France. Earlier in his career he featured in Ligue 1, the Premier League and LaLiga, including 70 Premier League appearances for Southampton and a loan spell at Celta Vigo.

In France’s top flight he has played more than 100 games, contributing goals and assists from attacking midfield, while also gaining experience in European competition with outings in both the Champions League and Europa League. His mix of domestic and continental pedigree is viewed as a key factor in Raja’s interest as they look to add creativity and experience to their squad.

For now Boufal remains unattached, free to negotiate with interested clubs as discussions over a potential move to Raja Casablanca continue.
