Aymane Mourid: Moroccan midfielder linked with Raja Casablanca move from Baltika

Moroccan defensive midfielder Aymane Mourid is being linked with a return to his homeland, with Raja Casablanca interested in prising the 26-year-old from Russian Premier Liga side Baltika. The Botola Pro Inwi club are monitoring Mourid’s situation despite the player being under contract in Kaliningrad until June 2029.

Mourid only joined Baltika last summer from Moroccan outfit Union Touarga in a deal worth around €900,000 and his current market value stands at about €700,000, underlining that any deal would require a significant outlay from Raja. The Casablanca giants are exploring midfield options and see Mourid as a candidate who already knows the demands of the Moroccan top flight.

Born in Casablanca, Mourid previously spent several seasons in Botola Pro Inwi with Union Touarga, where he established himself with more than 80 league appearances and a handful of assists from a deep-lying role. His performances there earned him a move to Baltika, where he has already featured in the Russian Premier Liga and domestic cup competitions.

Raja’s interest comes at a time when Mourid has begun to accumulate experience outside Morocco, following earlier spells in Spain with CD Leganes’ youth and reserve sides. A right-footed holding midfielder, he has also appeared in continental competition via the CAF Confederation Cup, adding to his appeal for a club with regular African commitments.

For now, Baltika retain a strong position in any negotiations given the length of Mourid’s deal, and there is no indication they are under pressure to sell as he enters the prime years of a contract running to 2029.
