Fares Nechat: Algeria right-back leaves JS Kabylie to become free agent

Algerian defender Fares Nechat has left JS Kabylie to become a free agent after his contract with the Ligue 1 club came to an end. The 25-year-old right-back, born in Bouira, has officially joined the pool of unattached players following his departure on 14 July 2026.

Nechat moves on after establishing himself as a regular in Algeria’s top flight, where he made 100 Ligue 1 appearances and delivered one goal and five assists. Comfortable on the right side of defence and predominantly right-footed, he featured extensively for JS Kabylie in both domestic and continental competitions.

Standing at 1.73m, Nechat also has significant experience in African club tournaments, having played in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup. He totalled 13 appearances in the Champions League and a further six in the Confederation Cup, underlining his exposure to high-level competition beyond the domestic scene.

A product of JS Kabylie’s youth ranks, Nechat stepped up from the club’s U21 side to the senior team in March 2021 and went on to win the Algerian League Cup in the 2020-21 season. His performances have seen his market value most recently assessed at around €300,000.

Nechat is now unattached following his exit from JS Kabylie and is available to sign for a new club.
