Iron Gomis: Former Amiens midfielder linked with move to Troyes
Iron Gomis, the French-Senegalese central midfielder currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Troyes. The 26-year-old, who left Azerbaijani outfit Zira FC at the start of July, is understood to be under consideration as Troyes look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the new campaign.
Gomis, born in Marseille and comfortable in central midfield, has accumulated significant experience in France and abroad, with his performances in Ligue 2 and subsequent moves drawing attention from recruiters. He has made 99 appearances in Ligue 2, registering six goals and six assists, a body of work that has kept him on the radar of clubs seeking a ready-made option in the middle of the pitch.
After emerging through the ranks at Amiens and featuring for their B team, Gomis’ senior career has taken in spells with USL Dunkerque, a move to Turkish side Kasimpasa and a loan stint in Serie A with Salernitana, before his switch to Zira FC in 2024. He has also featured in the Turkish Super Lig and European competition qualifiers, adding a range of top-flight and continental experience to his profile.
Gomis, a right-footed midfielder standing at 1.82m, is currently valued at around €1.4 million, though his free-agent status would allow Troyes to negotiate directly with the player. Having officially become unattached on 1 July 2026 following his departure from Zira, he is free to join a new club immediately, with Troyes emerging as the most concrete link so far.
