French midfielder of Nigerian descent Lesley Ugochukwu has arrived in Istanbul as he closes in on completing his transfer to Turkish champions Galatasaray ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder touched down at the Atatürk Airport General Aviation Terminal on Monday, where he received a warm welcome from Galatasaray board member Abdullah Kavukcu and a large group of passionate supporters who gathered to celebrate his imminent arrival.

Ugochukwu, who is set to become the latest addition to Galatasaray’s squad, appeared delighted by the reception and expressed his excitement about joining one of Turkey’s biggest football clubs.

Speaking briefly after landing in Istanbul, the talented midfielder made it clear that he understands the magnitude of the opportunity ahead of him.

“I am proud to be here. I have come to a very big team,” Ugochukwu said.
