Stellenbosch FC have signed South African defender Terrence Mashego on loan from Sundowns for the 2026-27 Betway Premiership season. The 30-year-old left-back completed the switch on 14 July, returning to the Western Cape after four years away.

Mashego, born in Mamelodi, Gauteng, arrives with significant top-flight experience, having made more than 100 league appearances in the Premiership. A left-footed specialist, he strengthens Stellenbosch’s options on the left side of defence as they prepare for the new campaign.

The move follows a spell in which Mashego alternated between Sundowns and Durban City FC. He rejoined Sundowns at the end of last season after a loan at Durban City, where he won the Nedbank Cup in the 2025-26 campaign. His latest loan now keeps him in the top division while remaining contracted to Sundowns, with a scheduled return to his parent club at the end of June 2027.

Mashego previously spent two seasons with Cape Town City after leaving TS Galaxy in 2020, establishing himself as a consistent Premiership performer. His domestic success peaked at Sundowns, where he collected three consecutive South African league titles from 2022-23 to 2024-25, as well as the African Football League in 2023-24.

Across league, cup and continental competitions, Mashego has accumulated more than 8,000 top-flight minutes and contributed in attack with a handful of goals and assists from full-back. He now links up with Stellenbosch FC for the 2026-27 season on a loan deal from Sundowns.
