Mostafa Shobeir to hold talks with Al Ahly

Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir has revealed his position regarding a possible departure from the club during the summer transfer window, admitting that he dreams of playing in Europe but stressing that any decision will be made in agreement with the Egyptian giants.

The 26-year-old shot-stopper recently returned from international duty with the Egyptian national team after being part of the Pharaohs’ historic campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Shobeir played a role in Egypt’s impressive run at the tournament, as the national team secured qualification to the Round of 16, restoring confidence among supporters and earning widespread praise for their performances on the global stage.

With growing interest in his services from abroad, speculation has increased over Shobeir’s future at Al Ahly, with reports linking him with a possible move to European football.

Speaking during an appearance on MBC Egypt 2, the goalkeeper acknowledged the possibility of a professional move but made it clear that Al Ahly’s interests will remain a priority.

“My contract with Al Ahly is still ongoing, and I certainly hope to play professionally, but anything that happens will be through the club,” Shobeir said.

He added that any potential transfer would require careful consideration, including the quality of the offer, the destination and the benefits it would provide for both himself and the club.

“We will sit down with Al Ahly and choose the best option. Before all this, I will see the details of the offer, its origin, the nature of the game, and certainly the benefit that the club will receive.”

Shobeir’s comments highlight his respect for Al Ahly, where he has developed into one of the most promising goalkeepers in Egyptian football. Despite his ambition to test himself abroad, the goalkeeper understands the importance of reaching an agreement with the club that has played a major role in his career.

The goalkeeper’s future has attracted attention following reports of interest from clubs in Europe, with teams from Germany and France reportedly monitoring his situation.

However, any move is complicated by the fact that Shobeir remains under contract with Al Ahly. His current deal runs until June 2027, meaning the Egyptian champions would have a major say in any potential transfer.

Al Ahly are expected to evaluate any offers that arrive before deciding whether to allow the goalkeeper to pursue a European opportunity or keep him as part of their plans for the upcoming season.

Having impressed at both club and international level, Shobeir is viewed as one of Egypt’s brightest goalkeeping talents, and a move to Europe could represent the next major step in his development.

For now, the goalkeeper remains focused on his responsibilities with Al Ahly, while discussions over his future are expected to intensify as the summer transfer window progresses.
