David Akintunde: Nigerian striker joins Kavala on free transfer
Nigerian centre-forward David Akintunde has joined Greek club Kavala on a free transfer from Eordaikos, signing a deal until 30 June 2027. The 22-year-old moves after one season with Eordaikos and becomes one of the latest attacking additions to the Kavala squad ahead of the new campaign.
Akintunde, who stands at 1.85m and is right-footed, switches clubs in Greece after arriving at Eordaikos in September 2025, also on a free. His new contract at Kavala runs for one year, giving the forward an immediate platform to establish himself in the club’s attack.
Before his move to Greece, Akintunde was on the books of Accra Lions, from where he made the step into European football. That pathway has now taken him to Kavala, where he will compete for a place as a central striker.
The Lagos-born forward has already experienced top-flight football, making 21 appearances in the Premier League and scoring three goals, averaging a goal every 211 minutes. That exposure at a higher level underlines his capacity to handle competitive environments despite his age.
Akintunde’s switch to Kavala is a permanent transfer, completed without a fee following the expiry of his deal at Eordaikos.
