Daylam Meddah: French-Algerian defender joins Montpellier from Pau FC

French-Algerian centre-back Daylam Meddah has joined Montpellier from Pau FC, signing a contract with the Ligue 2 side until 30 June 2030. The 23-year-old defender moves after a strong spell in the French second tier and will wear the number 27 shirt for his new club.

Meddah, born in Montivilliers and standing at 1.87m, arrives as a right-footed central defender with established experience in Ligue 2. Across his time in the division, he has made 56 appearances, scoring two goals and providing two assists, accumulating more than 3,700 minutes on the pitch.

The move continues a steady rise through French football for Meddah. After progressing in Le Havre’s youth system, he later featured for Angers SCO’s reserve side before earning a transfer to Sochaux. A free move to Caen followed, and he then joined Pau FC, initially on loan, before making the switch permanent ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Meddah’s form at Pau FC helped elevate his profile, with his market value now assessed at €1.5m, the highest of his career to date. His performances in domestic cup competitions, including several outings in the Coupe de France, further underlined his readiness for a larger role.

Now tied to Montpellier on a long-term deal running to 2030, Meddah completes his latest career step by committing his future to the Herault club.
