DR Congo’s Dan Nlundulu joins Petrolul Ploiesti after leaving St Mirren
DR Congo striker Dan Nlundulu has completed a move to Romanian top-flight side Petrolul Ploiesti, signing a two-year contract after becoming a free agent following his departure from St Mirren.
The 26-year-old forward joins the Romanian club as he looks to restart his career after leaving the Scottish Premiership side at the end of the season.
Petrolul Ploiesti confirmed the arrival of Nlundulu after reaching an agreement with the striker, who was without a club following the conclusion of his spell at St Mirren.
The move represents the second time the forward has played outside England, having previously gained overseas experience during his time in Scotland.
Nlundulu came through the youth system at Chelsea before beginning his senior career in English football, representing clubs including Bolton Wanderers.
After his move to Petrolul, the Congolese striker will now face the challenge of adapting to a new league and environment as he aims to rediscover his best form.
His arrival gives him an opportunity to secure regular playing time and continue his development after a period of uncertainty over his future.
During his final season at St Mirren, Nlundulu made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
The campaign also ended with a major achievement for the striker, as he helped the Scottish club win the League Cup trophy after defeating Celtic Glasgow.
Despite his journey being affected by changes of club and opportunities, Nlundulu arrives in Romania with experience from English and Scottish football.
His time at Chelsea’s academy helped shape his early career before he moved into senior football, where he gained valuable experience across different competitions.
Now at Petrolul Ploiesti, the striker will be hoping to make a strong impression and become an important player for the Romanian side.
The two-year contract gives Nlundulu stability as he enters a new stage of his career, with the forward aiming to use the opportunity to rebuild his reputation and return to consistent performances.
For Petrolul, signing an experienced forward with previous exposure to competitive leagues represents an opportunity to add attacking options to their squad.
Nlundulu’s focus will now turn to settling into Romanian football and helping his new club achieve its objectives during the upcoming season.
