Joan Laporta confirms Barcelona move for Karim Adeyemi
Karim Adeyemi’s move to Barcelona is on the verge of being completed, with club president Joan Laporta openly expressing his excitement about the incoming transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
While the deal has not yet been officially announced, Laporta left little doubt during an appearance at the World Cup in Dallas that everything is essentially in place.
“We are very happy about Adeyemi. We have been watching him for a long time. He is dangerous and fast, and Deco handled the signing brilliantly,” Laporta told Spanish media, effectively confirming the agreement. Dortmund had already granted the 24-year-old permission to negotiate with another club, clearing the way for the final steps.
According to Sky, Dortmund will receive a base fee of 22 million euros, with a further 9 million euros possible in bonuses, plus a 35 percent sell-on clause that could benefit them if Adeyemi’s value grows again.
In Barcelona, he is expected to sign a contract until 2031 and play under Hansi Flick, the coach who gave him his Germany debut in 2021. Barçelona see the winger as a high-upside signing who can add pace and depth to their forward line.
