CAMEROON: LAVAGNE COUNTERATTACKS

Lavagne 12

Denis Lavagne, recently dismissed as the head coach of the Cameroonian national football team (Indomitable Lions) by Fecafoot (Cameroonian Football Federation), is contemplating approaching FIFA to address what he believes are unjust circumstances surrounding his removal. Lavagne expressed surprise at his dismissal and emphasized that the decision was made unilaterally by the Minister of Sports without proper consultation with the federation.

Lavagne, who had been entrusted with the task of qualifying the national team for the final phase of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), finds the decision not in compliance with FIFA regulations. He stated, “It is not very regulatory in the eyes of FIFA, knowing that the leaders of Fécafoot still trusted me to qualify the national team for the final phase of the CAN 2013.”

Concerned about his unpaid salaries, Lavagne is prepared to take the matter to FIFA if the issue is not resolved promptly. He mentioned, “I contacted my lawyer. We will see how this matter develops, but if my salaries are not paid to me quickly, I will take the matter to FIFA. As of today, they owe me the full 12 months of salary, so I will notify them.” The situation remains to be continued.
