Gaston Sirino: Kaizer Chiefs forward linked with Durban City FC move
Gaston Sirino, the Uruguay-born South Africa-based winger currently at Kaizer Chiefs, is being linked with a switch to Betway Premiership rivals Durban City FC. The 35-year-old, who wears the No 10 shirt at Chiefs, is under contract until 30 June 2026 but is attracting interest as clubs assess experienced attacking options for the new campaign.
Durban City are understood to be weighing up a move that would reflect Sirinos current valuation of around 100,000, with his contractual situation at Naturena a key factor in any negotiations. No fee has been agreed and the discussions remain at a preliminary stage, but the prospect of an intra-league transfer is being closely monitored.
Sirino joined Chiefs on a free transfer from Sundowns in August 2024, remaining in a league where he has been a consistent presence over several seasons. Across his time in the Betway Premiership he has made 152 appearances, contributing 18 goals and 30 assists, while also featuring prominently in continental competition for a South African club side in the CAF Champions League, where he has registered 10 goals in 48 outings.
Born in Montevideo and standing at 1.66m, Sirino has operated mainly as a left-sided attacker cutting in on his right foot, and has also produced notable returns in domestic cup competitions, including nine goals in 23 Nedbank Cup matches. With two years still left on his deal at Chiefs, any approach from Durban City would require the Soweto clubs approval, and for now Sirino remains tied to a contract running through to the end of the 2025-26 season.
