Stanley Nwabali: Nigeria goalkeeper rejoins Chippa United after spell without club

Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has rejoined South African side Chippa United after a short spell without a club. The 30-year-old has returned to the Betway Premiership outfit, with the move confirmed on 12 July 2026.

Nwabali, born in Lagos and predominantly right-footed, previously left Chippa United in February 2026 but has now signed back on with the Port Elizabeth-based club. His return restores a familiar figure in goal for Chippa, who once again secure a player whose current market value is listed at 800,000.

The shot-stopper first arrived at Chippa United in October 2022 from Nigerian club Katsina United, having built a reputation in the Nigeria Professional Football League. During that period, he established himself as a dependable presence and earned another opportunity in South Africas top flight.

Before moving to South Africa, Nwabali progressed through several Nigerian sides, including Go Round FC, Wikki Tourists and Lobi Stars, before joining Enyimba Aba, where he enjoyed domestic success. He became a Nigerian champion with Enyimba in the 2018-19 season, a title that remains the standout honour of his career to date.

Having been without a club earlier in 2026 following his departure from Chippa, the goalkeeper now resumes his career with the same side in the Betway Premiership. Nwabalis confirmed move back to Chippa United sees him once again registered with the South African club from 12 July 2026.
