Ahmed El Arabi: Egyptian goalkeeper joins Ittihad Alex on free transfer from El Mahalla

Ittihad Alex have signed Egyptian goalkeeper Ahmed El Arabi from El Mahalla on a free transfer, with the 33-year-old agreeing a contract until 30 June 2029.

The Cairo-born stopper, who plays in the Egyptian Premier League, moves after two seasons with El Mahalla, having initially arrived there on a free from El Mokawloon in August 2024. His switch to Ittihad Alex keeps him in the top flight and formalises a long-term commitment between club and player.

El Arabi, a right-footed goalkeeper, joins with a current market valuation of 50,000. His arrival gives Ittihad Alex additional experience and depth in goal ahead of the new campaign, with the club opting for a long contract to secure stability in the position.

The move marks only the third club change of El Arabis senior career. He stepped up from Mokawloon U23s to El Mokawloons first team in 2015 before later making the move to El Mahalla, where he established himself in the Premier League.

Born on 17 April 1993, El Arabi is now entering what is typically considered a goalkeepers peak years, and the length of his deal underlines Ittihad Alexs intention to build around his presence in the squad.

El Arabis free transfer to Ittihad Alex is effective immediately, with his new contract running through to the end of the 2028-29 season.
