Azzedine Ounahi: Real Betis eye move for Morocco midfielder after Girona relegation
Azzedine Ounahi, the Morocco international midfielder currently at Girona, is being linked with a move to Real Betis as the Seville club explore options to strengthen their LaLiga squad.
The 26-year-old central midfielder joined Girona from Marseille for 6m on 30 August 2025, but his first season in Spain ended in disappointment as the Catalan side were relegated from the top flight in the 2025-26 campaign. Betis are understood to be monitoring his situation closely as they assess targets capable of stepping straight into a LaLiga side.
Ounahi has a long-term contract at Girona running until 30 June 2030 and is currently valued at around 10m, a figure that provides a reference point for any potential negotiations. Girona, now in Spains second tier, face a decision over whether to cash in on one of their most marketable assets or keep him as a key figure in their push to return to LaLiga.
The Casablanca-born midfielder has already shown he can adapt to Spanish football, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 24 LaLiga appearances last season. His performances for Morocco on the international stage have further raised his profile; he played a prominent role in their Africa Cup of Nations triumph in 2025 and featured at the 2026 World Cup, where he scored two goals in six matches.
For now, Ounahi remains a Girona player preparing for life in LaLiga2, with Betis interest yet to develop into formal talks over a transfer.
