Anouar El Azzouzi: Morocco-Dutch free agent linked with Serie A move to Frosinone
Morocco-Netherlands midfielder Anouar El Azzouzi, currently without a club after leaving Fortuna Dusseldorf, is being linked with a move to Serie A side Frosinone.
The 25-year-old central midfielder became a free agent at the start of July following his departure from the 2. Bundesliga club, opening the door for clubs on the continent to move for him without a transfer fee. Frosinone are understood to be exploring a deal as they look to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new campaign, with El Azzouzis current market valuation standing at around 1.5 million.
Born in Veenendaal and eligible for both Morocco and the Netherlands, El Azzouzi has built up experience across the Dutch and German leagues in recent seasons. Before his switch to Dusseldorf in 2025, he featured in the Eredivisie with PEC Zwolle after a move from FC Dordrecht in 2023.
El Azzouzi has accumulated regular senior minutes in the Netherlands second tier, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, and went on to make 29 league appearances in Germanys 2. Bundesliga, scoring once and adding an assist in 2,523 minutes of action. His height of 1.87m and background as a central midfielder give him a profile that could appeal to a Frosinone side stepping up in Serie A competition.
With no contract currently tying him down, negotiations are expected to focus on personal terms rather than a transfer fee as Frosinone assess whether to formalise their interest in the free agent.
