Akor Adams: Marseille eye move for Sevillas Nigeria striker
Nigeria forward Akor Adams of Sevilla FC is being linked with a summer move to Ligue 1 side Marseille as the French club assess centre-forward options for next season. The 26-year-old, who wears the No 9 shirt in Andalusia, is under contract at Sevilla until 30 June 2029, meaning any deal is likely to require a significant fee.
Adams market value is currently listed at around 15m, and Sevilla are expected to be in a strong negotiating position given the length of his contract and the fact he joined the Spanish club only in January 2025. He arrived from Montpellier midway through the 2024-25 campaign for a fee in the region of 5.5m after impressing during his first spell in France.
Since moving to La Liga, Adams has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in 36 league appearances, offering a consistent output across his time in Spain. Standing at 1.90m and operating as a traditional centre-forward, he has also featured in the Copa del Rey for Sevilla.
A switch to Marseille would mark a return to French football for the Kogi State-born striker, who previously struck 11 goals in 47 Ligue 1 appearances for Montpellier following prolific spells in Norway with Lillestrm and Sogndal. That prior experience in France is understood to be part of Marseilles thinking as they target a forward already acclimatised to the division.
For now, Adams remains a Sevilla player with three years left on his deal, leaving Marseille to weigh up whether to test the Spanish clubs resolve during the current window.
