Jean Onana: Cameroon midfielder at Besiktas linked with Aris Limassol move
Cameroon defensive midfielder Jean Onana of Besiktas is being linked with a move to Cypriot side Aris Limassol as the Turkish club weigh up options for the 26-year-olds future.
Onana, under contract in Istanbul until 30 June 2027, has returned to Besiktas this summer after a series of loan spells and is attracting interest from Aris as they look to strengthen their midfield for the new Cyprus League campaign. The Istanbul club are understood to be open to discussions, with the player currently valued at around 1m, a figure that could make a permanent deal attainable for the Limassol side.
The Yaounde-born midfielder joined Besiktas from Lens in July 2023 for 4.04m and has since had two stints away from the club at Genoa, as well as a loan period at Marseille in the 2023-24 season. His most substantial top-flight impact has come in France, where he made 58 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
Onana has also experienced European competition, featuring in both Europa League and Conference League qualifiers, while domestically he was part of the Besiktas squad that won the Turkish Super Cup in the 2024-25 season. However, he played only a limited role in the Super Lig last term, which has added to speculation that Besiktas could sanction a move.
Any agreement with Aris Limassol would need to take into account the remaining year-on-year value of a player whose current deal at Besiktas runs for another season beyond the upcoming campaign.
