Thabang Rakwena: South African winger at Casric Stars linked with Cape Town City move
South African right winger Thabang Rakwena of Casric Stars is being linked with a move to Cape Town City as the PSL side look to reinforce their attacking options.
Rakwena, 29, has emerged as a potential target after re-establishing himself at Casric Stars this season. The attacker returned to the club from TS Galaxy on 1 September 2025 and has since featured in the Betway Premiership, adding top-flight minutes to a campaign that has also included cup action. His recent league involvement includes 12 appearances, underlining his role as a regular option in the matchday squad.
Cape Town Citys interest comes with Rakwena now in his second permanent spell at Casric Stars, having first joined them from Jomo Cosmos in 2022 before moving to TS Galaxy and then switching back and forth between the two clubs, including a loan stint. The repeated moves between Casric Stars and TS Galaxy suggest he remains a player valued within the domestic market, with his ability to operate on the right side of attack seen as a useful asset.
Rakwenas contract situation at Casric Stars has not been made public, and it is not yet clear whether any approach from Cape Town City would focus on a permanent deal or an initial loan. For now, he remains part of Casric Stars squad as they navigate league and cup commitments, with his future expected to become clearer as the South African transfer window develops.
