Jules Kounde: Bayern Munich eye move for Barcelona and France defender
France international Jules Kounde, the Barcelona right-back, is attracting interest from Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga club explore defensive reinforcements this summer.
The German champions are understood to be monitoring Koundes situation at Barca, where the 27-year-old is under contract until 30 June 2030 and currently valued at around 60m. Any deal is likely to be complex, with Barcelona having made a significant investment when they signed him from Sevilla in July 2022 for a 50m fee.
Kounde has developed into a key figure at the Camp Nou, contributing to a period of domestic dominance that includes the 2025-26 LaLiga title, one of three Spanish championships he has won with the club. His performances at right-back for France at the 2026 World Cup, where he started every game and played the vast majority of minutes, have further underlined his status at the top level.
Bayerns interest comes as they look to strengthen a back line that will be tested across domestic and European competitions, with Koundes experience in LaLiga and the Champions League seen as particularly attractive. The defender has amassed more than 200 LaLiga appearances and substantial Champions League minutes across his time in Spain.
Barcelona, who also secured the Spanish Super Cup in 2025-26, are not under immediate pressure to sell given the length of Koundes contract and his status in the squad. With four years left on his deal, any negotiations would likely require Bayern to come close to his market valuation for talks to progress.
