William Avognan: Franco-Ivorian goalkeeper joins CS Sedan after spell without club
Franco-Ivorian goalkeeper William Avognan has joined CS Sedan, ending a year without a club for the 31-year-old shot-stopper. The experienced keeper arrives at the Ardennes side as a free agent and is expected to add depth and competition in goal following his move on 10 July 2026.
Avognan, born in La Ferte-sous-Jouarre and standing at 1.96m, has built his career in French football and now links up with Sedan as they continue to reshape their squad. Comfortable with his right foot, he specialises as a traditional goalkeeper and brings a physically imposing presence to his new team.
The dual France and Cote dIvoire national had most recently been on the books of Red Star FC, leaving the Parisian club in July 2025 before spending a year unattached. He had joined Red Star from AF Bobigny in 2019, having previously moved to Bobigny from FC Issy in 2017, both on free transfers.
During his time in the French lower divisions, Avognan collected a French third-tier title, adding silverware to a steady domestic career. His highest recorded market valuation reached 150,000 at his peak, underlining the level he has operated at across several seasons.
Avognans arrival at CS Sedan is registered as a free transfer after his stint without a club, confirming a fresh start for the goalkeeper and an experienced addition to Sedans goalkeeping options.
