Faris Moumbagna: Marseilles Cameroon striker linked with move to Gaziantep FK in Turkish Super Lig switch

Cameroon forward Faris Moumbagna of Marseille is being linked with a summer move to Turkish Super Lig side Gaziantep FK as the French club weigh up their attacking options ahead of the new season.

Moumbagna, 26, returned to Marseille this summer after spending most of last season on loan at Italian side Cremonese and now faces uncertainty over his long-term role at the Ligue 1 club. With his contract at the Stade Velodrome running until 30 June 2028 and his current valuation around 3.5m, any deal is expected to involve a transfer fee rather than a short-term arrangement.

The Yaounde-born striker joined Marseille from Norwegian champions Bod/Glimt in January 2024 in a deal worth 8m, having helped the club to the Eliteserien title in 2023. He has since made an impact in limited Ligue 1 minutes, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 14 league appearances.

Before heading to France, Moumbagna built his reputation in Norway with 24 goals and nine assists across 77 Eliteserien matches, as well as delivering in European competition with Bod/Glimt in both the Europa Conference League and Europa League. His profile as a left-footed centre-forward with experience in multiple leagues has drawn interest from abroad as Marseille look to reshape their squad.

For now, Moumbagna remains under a long-term contract at Marseille, with discussions around his future ongoing as Gaziantep FK explore the possibility of bringing him to Turkey.
