Karoly Retsos: Greece-South Africa Forward Joins Thiva on Free Transfer

Greece-South Africa striker Karoly Retsos has joined Thiva on a free transfer, signing a deal that runs until 30 June 2027. The 22-year-old centre-forward arrives as a permanent addition to the clubs attack after completing his move on 10 July 2026.

Retsos, who represents both Greek and South African nationality, strengthens Thivas options in the final third as they build towards the new campaign. The attacker is listed primarily as an out-and-out striker, adding depth in the central attacking role.

Before arriving at Thiva, Retsos had been without a club following his departure from Sourmena. He had initially joined Sourmena in July 2024, also as a free transfer, continuing a sequence of moves within Greek football. His most recent experience includes time at Ifestos Perist., Aris Petroupoli and Eolikos, all switches completed on free transfers.

The forwards senior experience includes appearances in the G Ethniki play-offs, where he has featured from the bench and gained minutes at national league level. In that competition he has one appearance to his name, playing 22 minutes.

Born on 5 January 2004, Retsos joins Thiva at an age where he has already accumulated a variety of club experiences in Greece, while also carrying South African ties in his background. His new contract ties him to Thiva until the end of the 2026-27 season, completing a free transfer into the clubs attacking ranks.
