Merveille Biankadi: German-Congolese winger linked with RW Essen move
German-Congolese winger Merveille Biankadi, currently without a club after leaving Energie Cottbus this summer, is being linked with a move to 3. Liga side RW Essen. The 31-year-old right-sided attacker is available on a free transfer and is understood to be under consideration as Essen look to add experience and end-product to their wide areas ahead of the new campaign.
Biankadi, born in Munich and comfortable on both feet, has built a substantial career in Germanys lower professional tiers, making 226 appearances in the 3. Liga with 41 goals and 34 assists. His market value is currently estimated at 275,000, a figure likely to make him an attainable target for a club operating within Essens budget.
The winger most recently featured for Energie Cottbus, having joined them in September 2025 following a brief spell without a club after leaving Arminia Bielefeld. He departed Cottbus at the start of July, becoming a free agent for the second successive summer and opening the door for interest from elsewhere in the third tier.
Biankadis profile is further strengthened by recent success at Arminia Bielefeld, where he was part of the squad that won the 3. Liga title in 202425 and reached the German Cup final in the same season. His earlier spells at clubs including Heidenheim and Hansa Rostock gave him experience in both the 2. Bundesliga and the upper reaches of the regional leagues.
For now, Biankadi remains unattached, weighing up his options as RW Essen assess whether to turn their interest into a formal offer.
