Cody David: Nigerian-English striker joins LNZ Cherkasy from AS Trencin in 800k deal

Nigerian-English forward Cody David has joined Ukrainian Premier Liga side LNZ Cherkasy from Slovak club AS Trencin in a permanent transfer worth 800,000.

The 25-year-old centre-forward makes the move after establishing himself in Slovakias top flight, the Nike Liga, and now switches to Ukraine as LNZ Cherkasy strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign. The transfer represents a significant investment for the Ukrainian club, with Davids market value currently assessed at 400,000.

David, who is eligible to represent both Nigeria and England, has been used primarily through the middle as a central striker. His performances in Slovakia earned him attention beyond the Nike Liga and paved the way for his first move into the Ukrainian top division.

AS Trencin had been his platform in European football, with the club known for developing players and selling them on to higher-profile leagues. His switch to Cherkasy continues that trajectory, as he now faces the challenge of adapting to a new competition and footballing culture in the Premier Liga.

By securing David on a permanent deal, LNZ Cherkasy have committed to building their forward line around a player entering what should be the peak years of his career, with the agreement finalised on 10 July 2026.
