Gelson Dala: Angola forward without club linked with Nam Dinh FC move

Gelson Dala, the Angola-born Portugal-affiliated centre-forward currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Vietnamese side Nam Dinh FC in V.League 1. The 29-year-old left Qatari outfit Al-Wakrah SC at the start of July and is now exploring options as a free agent, with Nam Dinh emerging as a potential destination.

Nam Dinh are understood to be assessing a deal that would bring in Dala to add proven top-flight experience in attack. With no transfer fee required and his current market value listed at around 1.5 million, the move would represent a significant acquisition for the Vietnamese club if they can reach an agreement on personal terms.

Dalas stock rose during his time in Qatar, where he scored regularly in the Stars League and became a key figure for Al-Wakrah. He also impressed in regional competition, registering five goals in six appearances in the AFC Champions League Two, underlining his effectiveness in continental fixtures.

Before his spell in the Gulf, Dala built his reputation in Portugal with Sporting and Rio Ave, posting strong numbers in Liga Portugal 2 with 17 goals in 23 appearances. He later turned that form into a productive run in the top flight, contributing both goals and assists over multiple seasons.

Dalas most recent silverware came in 2024, when he helped Al-Wakrah lift the Qatari League Cup, adding to an individual honour as top scorer in the Qatari Stars Cup in 2021-22. For now, he remains unattached after departing Al-Wakrah on 1 July 2026, leaving Nam Dinh and other suitors with a clear path if they decide to formalise their interest.
