Despite being suspended for two months by Al Ahly’s leadership, Mohamed Aboutrika will be present at the team’s training camp in the United Arab Emirates to prepare for the Champions League semi-finals. The suspension does not prevent him from traveling or participating in the team’s friendly matches, as clarified by Abdul-Hafiz Sayed, the club’s sports director.
Al Ahly is gearing up for the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League against Nigerian club Sunshine Stars. Aboutrika’s suspension stems from his refusal to play in the Egyptian Super Cup against Enppi, as a gesture of support for the club’s Ultras. The Ultras had protested against the resumption of the championship without holding the perpetrators of the events in Port Said accountable.
