Josh Koroma: Sierra Leone-born winger joins Chesterfield on loan from Leyton Orient
Chesterfield have secured the loan signing of Sierra Leone and England winger Josh Koroma from Leyton Orient. The 27-year-old left-sided attacker joins the League Two club on a season-long deal, with his move confirmed ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Koroma arrives at the SMH Group Stadium having spent last season with Leyton Orient in League One, rejoining the East London side in 2025 following his departure from Huddersfield Town on a free transfer. His new agreement at Chesterfield runs until 31 May 2027, aligning with the end of the loan.
London-born Koroma, who prefers to operate as a left winger and cuts inside onto his right foot, brings extensive experience across the English Football League. He has made more than 300 senior appearances in all competitions, including 119 in the Championship, 91 in League One and 25 in League Two, scoring regularly at each level.
His most productive spells have come higher up the pyramid, with 22 Championship goals and 16 in League One, while also contributing assists in league and cup competitions. That track record, combined with a current market value of around 800,000, underlines the calibre of player Chesterfield have added to their squad.
Koroma first broke through at Leyton Orient after progressing from their youth ranks, before earning a move to Huddersfield in 2019 and later enjoying loan stints with Rotherham United and Portsmouth. His latest switch sees him return to the National League and EFL lower divisions, where he previously scored 15 times in 70 National League outings and three in 25 League Two games.
The move means Koroma will spend the 2026-27 season with Chesterfield on loan from parent club Leyton Orient.
