Ale Gomes: Venezia sign Spanish-Cape Verdean teenager from Real Zaragoza in 2m deal

Venezia have signed Spanish-Cape Verdean centre-back Ale Gomes from Real Zaragoza in a 2m transfer to bolster their defence ahead of the new Serie A season.

The 18-year-old left-footed defender joins the Italian club after breaking into Zaragozas first team, where he featured in Spains lower divisions last term. Standing at 1.87m, Gomes is viewed as a central option for the back line and arrives in Italy with experience already accumulated in senior football.

Gomes made his way to Zaragozas senior setup after progressing through the clubs youth ranks, moving from Zaragoza Youth to their under-19 side in 2024 before stepping up to Deportivo Aragon and then the first team in 2025. His development was rapid enough to earn a place in Real Zaragozas squad in the Primera Federacion.

Across league and cup competitions last season, Gomes played regularly for Zaragoza, making appearances in LaLiga2, the Segunda Federacion and the Copa del Rey, where he totalled more than 1,600 minutes on the pitch. His combination of height and a left-footed profile offers Venezia an additional option in central defence.

Gomes, whose market value had risen to 500,000 by June 2026, joins Venezia on a permanent basis following his move from Spain to Italy confirmed on 9 July 2026.

The teenager is now officially a Venezia player after completing his transfer from Real Zaragoza for 2m.
