Issa Kabore: Burkina Faso right-back at Man City linked with Stade Rennais move
Issa Kabore, the Burkina Faso right-back currently at Manchester City, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais as the French club explore options to strengthen on the right flank.
Kabore, 25, is under contract at City until 30 June 2027 but has yet to establish himself in the first team and has spent much of his time since arriving in England on loan. Rennes are monitoring his situation closely, with his current market value standing at around 4m, a figure that would represent a relatively modest outlay for a defender with experience in several top European leagues.
The former Best Young Player award winner with Burkina Faso in 2021 has already featured in Ligue 1, making 53 appearances and contributing one goal and two assists during earlier spells in France. That familiarity with the division is understood to be a key factor in Rennes interest as they look for a ready-made option rather than a developmental signing.
Since joining City from KV Mechelen in 2020, Kabore has had loan stints with Troyes, Marseille, Luton Town, Benfica, Werder Bremen and, most recently, Wrexham in the 2025-26 season. His most substantial run of games in England came in the Championship, where he made 30 appearances and registered eight assists, underlining his ability to contribute in the final third from full-back.
Kabore also has Premier League and Champions League minutes on his record, albeit in a limited capacity, and was part of the City squad that won the English Super Cup in 2024-25. For now he remains a Manchester City player, with any potential move likely to require agreement on how his long-term contract is managed.
