Moncef Bakrar linked with transfer to Al Ahly

Al Ahly have reportedly opened negotiations with Dinamo Zagreb as they seek to sign Algeria international striker Moncef Bakrar during the summer transfer window.

The Egyptian club are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season and have identified the 25-year-old forward as a leading candidate.

Bakrar, who previously played for ES Sétif before moving to Croatia, has attracted attention following an impressive campaign with Dinamo Zagreb.

According to reports from Egypt, discussions have already begun between Al Ahly and the Croatian champions. However, completing the transfer is expected to be difficult, with Dinamo Zagreb showing little desire to part with one of their key attacking players.

Bakrar joined the Croatian side last summer with the aim of establishing himself in European football and quickly became an important member of the squad.

His movement, work rate and attacking contribution have earned him the confidence of the club’s management and coaching staff.

The Algerian international enjoyed an impressive season, making 42 appearances in all competitions. During that time, he scored 18 goals and provided seven assists, underlining his influence in Dinamo Zagreb’s attack and his consistency throughout the campaign.

His performances also helped Dinamo Zagreb complete a domestic league and cup double, with Bakrar playing an important role in the club’s successful season.

Beyond his goals and assists, his contribution away from the ball and his commitment to the team’s overall play have regularly been recognised by the coaching staff.

Bakrar is currently valued at €3 million, meaning any potential transfer would require a significant financial commitment from Al Ahly.

The Egyptian giants must not only reach an agreement with the player but also convince Dinamo Zagreb to part with a forward they continue to view as an important part of their plans.

With several clubs also reported to be monitoring the Algeria international, Al Ahly could face strong competition if they hope to complete the deal.

Given Bakrar’s performances, his importance to Dinamo Zagreb and the club’s determination to keep him, securing his signature is expected to be one of the more challenging transfer pursuits of the summer window.
