Njabulo Blom: South African free agent linked with Viettel FC move in Vietnams V.League 1

South African midfielder Njabulo Blom, currently without a club after leaving Nam Dinh FC, is being linked with a move to Vietnamese top-flight side Viettel FC in V.League 1. The 26-year-old defensive midfielder is available as a free agent, a situation that is understood to have put Viettel on alert as they assess options to strengthen the core of their squad.

Blom, who was born in Dobsonville, Gauteng, left Nam Dinh FC at the start of July following the end of his spell in Vietnam. His current market value stands at around 650,000, a figure that could make him an attractive low-risk addition given there would be no transfer fee involved.

Before his move to Southeast Asia, Blom had a stint in Major League Soccer with St. Louis CITY, having initially joined the American club from Kaizer Chiefs in January 2023. He later returned to Chiefs on loan for the 202425 season before switching to Nam Dinh FC on a free transfer in July 2025.

Blom built his reputation in South Africas Betway Premiership with Kaizer Chiefs, making 87 league appearances and featuring in continental competition in the CAF Champions League. He also added MLS Cup Playoffs experience during his time in the United States, underlining a career that already spans domestic, continental and intercontinental club football.

Talk of Viettels interest comes as Blom weighs up his next move at a key stage of his career, with the midfielder a free agent following his departure from Nam Dinh earlier this month.
