Babacar Sarr: Senegal midfielder joins Ittihad Tanger on free transfer from JS Kabylie

Senegalese midfielder Babacar Sarr has joined Moroccan side Ittihad Tanger on a free transfer from JS Kabylie. The 28-year-old defensive midfielder arrives in the Botola Pro Inwi after leaving the Algerian club at the end of his spell there.

Sarr, born in Thies and standing at 1.83m, moves to Tangier as a right-footed holding midfielder with extensive experience in North African football. He most recently represented JS Kabylie, whom he had also joined on a free transfer in 2024 after a stint with Tanzanian outfit Simba SC.

Before heading to Algeria and Tanzania, Sarr made his name in Tunisia, featuring for US Monastir and Olympique Beja. During his time with Beja he won the Tunisian Cup in the 2022-23 season, adding to a Senegalese league title secured with Teungueth FC in 2020-21. Those honours underline his familiarity with pressure matches and continental competition.

Sarr has also built up significant minutes in African club tournaments, including appearances in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, complementing regular top-flight action in domestic leagues. His experience across Senegal, Tunisia, Tanzania and Algeria positions him as a seasoned addition to Ittihad Tangers midfield options.

The move sees Sarr link up with Ittihad Tanger with an immediate effect following the completion of his free transfer from JS Kabylie.
