FC Koln close to signing Gideon Mensah on a free transfer

Gideon Mensah’s move to FC Koln is edging toward completion, with talks now said to be progressing positively after a brief delay caused by his World Cup involvement with Ghana.

With Ghana’s tournament run over, negotiations have accelerated and a final agreement now looks close.

According to reports, the 27-year-old left-back has already given Köln his approval for a summer switch. Because his contract with AJ Auxerre expired on June 30, he would arrive on a free transfer, making the deal an attractive one for the Bundesliga club.

Mensah is expected to fill an important gap on the left side of Koln’s defense. The club needed reinforcements there after Kristoffer Lund departed, and Mensah’s availability at no transfer fee makes him a practical solution as well as an experienced one.
