Sory Kaba: Guinea striker leaves OH Leuven to join Al-Dhafra FC in UAE Pro League move

Guinea centre-forward Sory Kaba has joined Al-Dhafra FC from OH Leuven in a permanent move to the UAE Pro League. The 30-year-old leaves the Belgian club after a single spell in the Jupiler Pro League to continue his career in the United Arab Emirates.

Kaba, born in Conakry and standing at 1.91m, arrives as an experienced attacking option after featuring in top divisions across Europe, including Spains LaLiga, Frances Ligue 1, Denmarks Superliga and Englands Championship. Predominantly right-footed, he is expected to operate through the middle of Al-Dhafras attack.

The forward moved to OH Leuven in 2021 on loan from FC Midtjylland, before returning to the Belgian club again in 2025 following a stint with UD Las Palmas. His latest switch to Al-Dhafra comes after a series of moves that have taken him through Spain, France, Denmark, Belgium and Wales since leaving Spanish side Alcobendas CF for Elches reserve team in 2016.

Kabas most prolific spells came in Belgium and Denmark, where he scored 16 goals in 47 Jupiler Pro League appearances and contributed regularly in the Danish Superliga and its championship round. He also produced eight goals in 17 Championship matches during a loan spell at Cardiff City, underlining his ability to adapt to different leagues.

At Midtjylland he twice won the Danish title, in 201920 and 202324, while also gaining experience in European competitions including the Champions League and Europa League. He was part of Elche CFs promotion campaigns from the Spanish third tier to LaLiga 2 and later to LaLiga.

Kabas move to Al-Dhafra FC is effective from 8 July 2026 as the UAE Pro League side reinforce their attacking options with a proven centre-forward.
