Raphael Onyedika: Frankfurt eye move for Nigeria and Club Brugge midfielder
Raphael Onyedika, the Nigeria international currently at Club Brugge, is being linked with a move to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt as the German club assess options to strengthen their midfield this summer.
The 25-year-old defensive midfielder is under contract with Brugge until 30 June 2027 and is valued at around 23m, meaning any deal is likely to require a significant fee. Frankfurts interest comes after Onyedika played a central role in Brugges recent domestic success and built up meaningful experience in European competition.
Since joining Brugge from Midtjylland in August 2022 in a deal worth 9.5m, Onyedika has become a regular in the Belgian top flight, making 95 league appearances for the club. He has also featured prominently in the Champions League, with 24 outings and three goals in Europes premier club competition adding to his profile.
Onyedika has collected multiple honours during his time in Belgium, including back-to-back league titles in 2023-24 and 2025-26 and a Belgian Cup win in 2025. His progress follows a steady rise through Midtjyllands system, where he was part of a Danish Youth Championship-winning side before breaking into senior football and earning a Danish Cup winners medal in 2021-22.
Frankfurt are weighing up whether to test Brugges resolve for a player who has also appeared in the Conference League and Europa League, further underlining his experience at continental level. With two years left on his deal in Bruges, Onyedikas situation remains secure for the Belgian champions, who are under no pressure to sell as speculation over a potential Bundesliga move grows.
