Xavier Odhiambo: VPS sign Landskrona forward on loan from Swedens Superettan side

Vaasan Palloseura have signed centre-forward Xavier Odhiambo from Swedish side Landskrona on a loan transfer. The 21-year-old joins the Veikkausliiga club from the Superettan outfit in a deal confirmed on 8 July 2026.

Odhiambo, who holds both Kenyan and Swedish nationality, moves to Finland seeking more first-team opportunities after featuring for Landskrona in Swedens second tier. He is under contract with VPS until 31 October 2026, aligning the agreement with the end of the Finnish league season before he is scheduled to return to his parent club.

The forward arrives with experience of Superettan football in 2026, having made nine appearances for Landskrona this season. Used largely in a rotational role, he featured in 23% of the available league minutes and received one yellow card, but did not register a goal or an assist.

Odhiambos pathway to Landskronas senior squad led through the clubs youth ranks, progressing from the U17 and U19 sides before stepping into the first team in 2023. He also spent time on loan at FC Rosengard in the 2023-24 campaign, returning to Landskrona ahead of the 2024-25 season.

VPS, currently competing in Finlands top flight, add Odhiambo as a central attacking option for the remainder of the 2026 campaign. The loan agreement includes a predetermined return to Landskrona on 31 October 2026, marking the end of his stint in the Veikkausliiga.
