Mustafa Kourouma: Hertha BSC II sign German-Guinean centre-back on free transfer from Titus Petange

Hertha BSC II have signed centre-back Mustafa Kourouma from Luxembourg side Titus Petange on a free transfer. The 23-year-old defender leaves the Ehrenpromotion club to join the Regionalliga Nordost team, strengthening the Berlin sides options at the heart of defence.

Born in Essen, Kourouma holds both German and Guinean nationality and stands at 1.86m. A right-footed central defender, he arrives at Hertha BSC II with senior experience in Germany and Luxembourg, as well as a record of success in regional competitions.

Kourouma moved to Titus Petange in January 2026 after a spell with Rot-Wei Oberhausen, and now returns to German football with Herthas second team. Before Oberhausen, he came through the ranks at Rot-Weiss Essen, stepping up from the clubs under-19s to the first team in 2022.

Across his senior career he has featured in the 3. Liga, Regionalliga West and the Luxembourg top flight, making more than 70 competitive appearances in league and cup competitions. He has also contributed goals from the back line, including strikes in the 3. Liga and the Niederrheinpokal.

At Rot-Weiss Essen, Kourouma was part of a successful period, winning the German Regionalliga West title once and lifting the Lower Rhine Cup three times in succession between the 202223 and 202425 seasons. Earlier in his development he spent time in the youth systems of Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund before moving to Essens academy in 2020.

Kourouma joins Hertha BSC II as a free-transfer addition ahead of the new Regionalliga Nordost campaign.
