Melvin Onos: VfR Aalen sign Hoffenheim II attacking midfielder on permanent deal

VfR Aalen have signed attacking midfielder Melvin Onos from Hoffenheim II on a permanent deal. The 19-year-old moves from the 3. Liga side to the Regionalliga Sudwest club after completing his switch on 8 July 2026.

Born in Bad Mergentheim and eligible for both Germany and Nigeria, Onos arrives at Aalen having already featured in senior professional football with Hoffenheims second team. He made four appearances in the 3. Liga last season, adding to a youth career that has included domestic and continental competitions.

Onos came through Hoffenheims youth system after joining from TSV Buchen in 2017 and progressed through the clubs under-17 and under-19 sides. A both-footed midfielder standing 1.83m tall, he featured in the UEFA Youth League and German youth cup competitions, as well as the U17 and U19 Bundesliga divisions.

He was part of a successful Hoffenheim U19 squad, winning the German Under-19 Bundesliga, the national Under-19 cup and the Under-19 Bundesliga South/South-West title in the 2023-24 season. At under-17 level he also collected the Bundesliga South/South-West championship in 2022-23.

Across his time in Hoffenheims youth ranks, Onos delivered consistent attacking output, including goals and assists in both league and cup competitions at under-17 and under-19 level. Those performances have earned him a first permanent move away from the clubs academy structure.

Onos, whose current market valuation stands at 75,000, now joins VfR Aalen ahead of the 2026-27 Regionalliga Sudwest campaign.
