Issaka Seidu: IFK Goteborg sign Nordsjaelland left-back on season-long loan

IFK Goteborg have signed Ghanaian left-back Issaka Seidu from FC Nordsjaelland on a loan deal running until the end of the 2026-27 season. The 20-year-old defender, who is left-footed and stands at 1.76m, joins the Swedish club from the Danish Superliga side with the temporary move confirmed for the new campaign.

Seidu arrives at Gamla Ullevi after a breakout spell in Swedens second tier with Ljungskile SK, where he spent the second half of last season on loan from Nordsjaelland. He featured in 13 Superettan matches for Ljungskile in 2026, scoring once and providing one assist while starting the vast majority of games and picking up a single yellow card.

His performances in Sweden came on the back of a campaign with Nordsjaellands set-up that also included appearances in the Premier League International Cup at under-21 level. In that competition he played four times and scored once, underlining his potential to contribute in the attacking phase from full-back as well as defensively.

Born on 5 June 2006, Seidu moved to Europe from the Right to Dream academy, joining Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2024. His market value has since risen to around 175,000, reflecting his progress over the last two seasons and his growing reputation as a developing prospect at left-back.

The loan agreement to IFK Goteborg is scheduled to run until 30 June 2027, after which Seidu is due to return to Nordsjaelland. The arrangement gives the Allsvenskan club an additional option on the left side of defence for the upcoming season while offering the Ghanaian defender the opportunity to gain top-flight experience in Sweden.

Seidus move continues a pathway from the Right to Dream system through Nordsjaelland and into the Scandinavian leagues, as he looks to build on his first sustained run of senior appearances and establish himself at IFK Goteborg over the course of the loan.
