Mohamed Wael Derbali: Brommapojkarna sign Tunisia midfielder on free transfer from Esperance Tunis

IF Brommapojkarna have completed the signing of central midfielder Mohamed Wael Derbali from Tunisian side Esperance Tunis on a free transfer.

Derbali, 23, joins the Allsvenskan club after three years in the Tunisian top flight, where he most recently represented Esperance in Ligue 1. The move takes him from North Africa to Swedens highest division, with his new club securing a player currently valued at 250,000 without paying a transfer fee.

Born in Toulouse and eligible for both Tunisia and France, Derbali arrives in Stockholm as a 1.89m right-footed central midfielder. His main position is in the centre of the pitch, and he has been listed as a specialist in that role throughout his senior career.

Derbalis professional breakthrough came in Tunisia. After time in Toulouse FCs youth system, he moved to Esperances under-19 side in 2019 before joining Olympique Beja in 2021. His progress there saw his market value rise significantly, climbing from 25,000 at the end of 2021 to 600,000 by mid-2023, reflecting his growing importance in the Tunisian top flight.

That development earned him a return to Esperances first team in July 2023, where he maintained a market valuation of 600,000 for an extended spell before it adjusted to 250,000 in June 2026. The free transfer to Brommapojkarna follows that reset in valuation and marks his first move into European senior club football.

Derbali joins Brommapojkarna in the 202627 season, adding a Tunisia- and France-qualified central midfielder with top-flight Tunisian experience to their Allsvenskan squad.
