Hussein Ammouta is the right coach for Al Ahly – Sporting director Wael Gomaa

Al Ahly sporting director Wael Gomaa has expressed his confidence in Hussein Ammouta’s appointment, describing the Moroccan coach as the right man to lead the club into a new era.

Gomaa made the comments during the official unveiling of Ammouta as Al Ahly’s new technical director at a press conference held at the club’s headquarters in Gezira on Tuesday.

The former Egypt international defender, who recently returned to Al Ahly’s football department, welcomed the opportunity to serve the club again and vowed to give his best to the Red Castle.

“I am happy to return to my home and the best place I have ever lived in, and God willing, I will give Al-Ahly its due,” Gomaa said.

Gomaa praised Ammouta’s achievements and experience, insisting that the Moroccan coach has all the qualities required to succeed at one of Africa’s biggest clubs.

“Hussein Ammouta is one of the best coaches in Africa and the Arab world. He has proven his success, presence, and personality in all the clubs he has worked with, and he is a person who is worthy of Al-Ahly Club,” Gomaa said.

He highlighted Ammouta’s winning mentality and leadership skills, saying the coach’s previous experiences make him suitable for the pressure that comes with managing Al Ahly.

“Hussein Ammouta is a coach with achievements and successes, and he speaks for himself through his leadership of Al-Ahly Club. He is a coach who has proven his success, presence, and personality in all the clubs and places where he has worked,” he added.

Gomaa further praised Ammouta’s character, discipline and commitment, describing him as someone who fits the values and identity of Al Ahly.

“On a personal level, I have dealt with him. He is a human being who is worthy of Al-Ahly and Al-Ahly is worthy of him. Hussein Ammouta possesses all the technical and personal qualities that are appropriate to the value and name of Al-Ahly, in terms of discipline, commitment and good leadership,” he said.

With Ammouta now officially in charge and the club’s new structure taking shape, Gomaa believes Al Ahly can return stronger and compete for more trophies in the upcoming season.
