Mamadou Sarr on the radar of Como

Serie A side Como are reportedly interested in signing Senegal and Chelsea defender Mamadou Sarr on loan ahead of the new campaign.

The 20-year-old centre-back has emerged as one of the promising defensive talents at Chelsea, and his profile has attracted the attention of Como as the Italian club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of the new campaign.

According to reports, Como manager Cesc Fabregas is a strong admirer of Sarr and has identified the Senegal international as a priority target. The former Arsenal, Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder believes the young defender possesses the qualities needed to fit into Como’s tactical system.

The Serie A outfit are reportedly exploring a loan deal that would allow Sarr to gain valuable first-team experience while continuing his development away from Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, however, have yet to make a final decision regarding the defender’s immediate future.

The Blues are understood to be carefully assessing whether Sarr would benefit more from remaining within the first-team setup or spending the season on loan, where he could enjoy regular competitive football.

Sarr remains under a long-term contract with Chelsea until June 2033, highlighting the club’s confidence in his potential and their desire to secure his future for years to come.

A temporary move to Como could provide the Senegalese defender with an ideal platform to continue his development in one of Europe’s top leagues under the guidance of Fabregas, who has earned praise for helping young players flourish since taking charge of the Italian club.

Known for his composure on the ball, physical strength and ability to read the game, Sarr is regarded as one of Senegal’s brightest defensive prospects. A successful spell in Serie A could accelerate his progress and enhance his chances of establishing himself in Chelsea’s senior squad upon his return.

For Como, signing a player of Sarr’s potential would represent another ambitious move as the club continues to strengthen its squad with talented young footballers capable of making an immediate impact.

While no agreement has been reached, discussions are expected to continue in the coming weeks as Como seek to convince Chelsea that a loan spell in Italy would be the best next step in Mamadou Sarr’s development. With Fabregas personally backing the move, the Senegalese defender could soon find himself embarking on an exciting new chapter in Serie A.
