South Africa star Relebohile Mofokeng completes move to Union Saint-Gilloise in four-year deal

South African midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng has completed a transfer to Belgian side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise from Orlando Pirates on a four-year contract, the club has confirmed.

The 19-year-old joins the Belgian Pro League outfit as part of their continued recruitment drive ahead of the new season, with the deal also including an option to extend his stay by a further year.

Mofokeng expressed his excitement at the move and outlined his ambitions of developing his game in Europe while contributing to Union’s domestic and continental objectives.

“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a dream to play in Europe and to begin our Champions League qualifying campaign soon,” he said.

“The past year has been very special, with the league title, my first FIFA World Cup with South Africa and now this important step in my career.

“I hope to continue developing as a player here. Together with the team, we’ll do everything we can to compete for trophies.”

The midfielder will wear the No. 38 shirt as he begins a new chapter in Belgium, where Union Saint-Gilloise will be looking to build on their recent domestic progress and push further in European competition.
