Dynamos FC suspend coach Genesis Mangombe amid allegations of player rift

Zimbabwean giants Dynamos FC have suspended head coach Genesis Mangombe pending an internal investigation, amid reports linking the decision to alleged disagreements with players and claims surrounding traditional rituals.

The club has not officially disclosed the reasons behind Mangombe’s suspension.

However, local report suggest that the coach had fallen out with some members of the squad and was accused of allegedly compelling players to participate in traditional rituals.

According to the report, which claims to have seen the suspension letter, allegations of insubordination were also cited among the reasons for the disciplinary action.

In response to widespread speculation following the leak of the suspension letter, Dynamos released an official statement seeking to clarify the situation.

“Following recent media reports and widespread speculation, Dynamos Football Club wishes to clarify the circumstances surrounding the suspension of Head Coach Mr Genesis Mangombe and certain members of the Technical Team,” the club said in a statement posted on Facebook.

“The Club notes with concern the misconceptions and unfounded allegations that have emerged following the unauthorised leak of an internal suspension letter addressed to Mr Mangombe.”

Dynamos stressed that the matter remains an internal issue and assured supporters that it is being handled professionally.

“This matter remains an isolated internal issue which the Club is treating with the utmost seriousness and professionalism,” the statement continued.

“In the interest of preserving the integrity of the ongoing process, the Club will not issue any further comments on this matter until the internal investigation has been concluded.”

The suspension has sparked widespread debate within Zimbabwean football circles, with supporters now awaiting the outcome of the club’s internal investigation.
