World Cup 2026: Emerse Fae vows Ivory Coast response after Germany defeat ahead of Curacao clash

Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Fae has vowed that his side will learn from their defeat to Germany as the Elephants prepare for a crucial encounter against Curacao.

The West Africans suffered a disappointing setback against the European side, with Fae admitting that a lack of experience proved decisive in key moments of the match.

Speaking after the defeat, the former Ivory Coast international acknowledged that his players struggled to make the most of the opportunities that came their way, particularly in the closing stages of the contest.

“A difference in experience meant that in the chances that we did have at the end of the game, where we needed to find the back of the net, we were hesitant,” Fae said.

Despite the loss, the Ivorian tactician remains optimistic that the experience gained from facing Germany will benefit his team going forward.

According to Fae, the coaching staff will carefully analyse the shortcomings displayed during the match and work on addressing them ahead of their next fixture against Curacao.

“We’re going to use that game as a lesson to try and fine-tune the mistakes, our shortcomings that we still have, and that will help us go as far as possible,” he added.

The defeat has increased the importance of Ivory Coast’s upcoming clash with Curacao, with the Elephants eager to return to winning ways and strengthen their position in the competition.

Fae will now be hoping his players can quickly put the Germany disappointment behind them and deliver an improved performance as they seek to keep their campaign on track.
