Swedish referee Glenn Nyberg has been appointed as the official for the final 2026 World Cup Group E clash between Curacao and Ivory Coast, scheduled for June 25, 2026 at the Philadelphia Stadium.

Nyberg will be supported by an all-Swedish assistant referee team, with Mahod Bergi named as Assistant Referee 1 and Andreas Soderkvist as Assistant Referee 2.

The fourth official role will be handled by Switzerland’s experienced referee Sandro Schaerer, while Stephane De Almeida of Switzerland has been appointed as the reserve assistant referee.

The decision reflects FIFA’s continued emphasis on assigning neutral and internationally experienced officiating teams for group-stage matches, particularly in fixtures involving teams from different confederations.

For Ivory Coast, the match represents another key step in their World Cup journey as they look to build momentum in Group E and strengthen their chances of progressing to the knockout stages. The Elephants will be aiming to assert their experience on the global stage, while Curaçao continue to embrace their historic participation at the tournament.

With both teams preparing for a crucial encounter, attention will not only be on the players but also on how the officiating team manages the flow and intensity of the match in Philadelphia.
