FIFA has confirmed its decision to uphold the sanction against Cape Verde, which deprives the national team of participating in the third round of African qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup. Cape Verde had protested the transformation of their victory over Tunisia on September 7 into a defeat due to fielding a suspended player. The appeals committee of FIFA rejected Cape Verde’s appeal, allowing Tunisia to advance to the next round and compete in the playoff against Cameroon for a spot in the World Cup.
